My cousin is convinced that video games are sports, but I disagree. What do you people think?

Sport is defined as: an athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc.
An athletic activity is one involving physical strength.
Unless the definition of sport is changed to include mental strenth then I would say video games are not a sport. However, the International Olympic committee classifies chess as a sport and that isn’t an athletic activity either. For the time being I would say it is not a sport unless the definition of sport is changed or some major organization such as the olympics classifies it as one.

No of course not i play video games but it is not a sport go outside and play a sport

They are technically a kind of sport on ESPN because they're E sports meaning they're electrical sports but in the real world they're aren't really a type of sport because they don't involve any exercise and they don't really need much physical ability to do them so in the end I guess you could go both ways on this.
