On the Tote principle you cannot compute STARTING odds until ALL bets have been made. I f starting odds are given you cannot apply a tote principle. On the assumption that there are no predetermined odds, you can compute expected dividends from a running pool as follows. In simple terms, you need to keep a running record of the amount bet on each horse and the running total. Let us say at a moment in time the number of units bet on a race with 6 contestants is as follows: A10, B15, C20, D25, E30, F35, total pool 135. Assuming you wish to retain 15 ( or a %age) out of the pool for the bank, the payout per winning ticket for horse A becomes 120 (135 minus 15) divided by 10, B same divided by 15, C same divided by 20 etc. (The odds for A are therefore dividend, 120, less stake,10, divided by stake,10 = 11 to 1 but this information really serves no purpose). If there are predetermined odds you either use them and gamble or keep them quiet and use the formula above but I cannot see how you can combine predetermined odds with the concept of calculating a tote pool . Either the odds are given or remain to be calculated on the above principle.

That is IMPOSSIBLE.

For the sum to be even and the numbers to be odd the numbers should be even in number. That means there can be only even number of numbers that can add up to 40(which is an even number).

So we can have 4 or 6 odd numbers but not 5 odd numbers.
