In the last two weeks prices dropped 22 cents nationwide…
Where is that story?

WBrian28, The question remains where is the national front page coverage of these facts!
To copy your first link, “Local gasoline prices accelerated their retreat this week from recent peaks of more than $3 a gallon, as stations were spotted selling regular unleaded for as little as $2.64 Tuesday on both sides of the Ohio River. That's 28 cents, or 10 percent, less than the $2.92 national average price for regular as of Monday…This is Friday, did you lose a week?
Facts given a contorted context in your second link, “In total, the national average retail gasoline price has fallen nearly 48 cents from its peak on May 14. This is already the widest one-year range in retail prices since EIA began its weekly survey in 1990, and it=s all occurred in the past 5 months.”
Fact! As of today Aug 25, 2006, national average gas prices have dropped .22 cents in two weeks.
By the way, I know the Enquirer, and if it were not for Norwood and Over The Rhine buying their Hudepohl ads.

Sorry pal but I believe that you have answered your own question!
Crude barrel and per gallon pump prices are only reported when they are on the rise,
Obscene profits are great copy, a companies profit margin (intake vs. out go) honesty does not sell papers. 1996 unemployment at 5.1% was an economic boom! 2006 unemployment at 4.7% is a gloom and doom recession. Can you say biased agenda!

Actually, you're inaccurate. The largest average drop for a state was 15 cents in Ohio. Texas followed with a 7 cent drop. In some city areas it has dropped the amount you mention, but that's not the national average drop. The national average is still $2.92, which is only down 11 cents from it's highest levels.

Where I live, it's only come down 3 cents.

Prices naturally drop toward the end of the summer as well, as demand declines. And presently oil supplies are up about 5% over last year. So, that's why their coming down. It's nice, but it's not that newsworthy. When it gets back down below $2.50, then I think you'll hear people really talking about it.

If you recall, in 2001, the average price was $1.23. So it's not a good idea to brag about coming down a few cents when the average price is still 137% higher than it was when the president first took office.

"My goodness, it's so grossly obvious how the media controls the small minded people in the US...."

Then why do conservatives control the US government? Your statement cannot be supported by facts. The media does not have as much power as the right wingers try to make you believe. It is just another excuse for their lack of competent leadership.

Back to the original question. The reason is that when gases prices drop, there is no outrage. Outrage over an issue sells. The media is in the business to make money. That story does not sell.

Tell me about it !! I heard one time on Fox News that oil dropped $2.00 a barrel as soon as the terrorist attack plot in the UK was foiled. They said it was a supply and demand thing... knowing airline travel would drop as a result of fear among travelers. And that's the last I'd heard about gas prices. My goodness, it's so grossly obvious how the media controls the small minded people in the US....We can try to enlighten people, but it's like they've been brainwashed !!!

The media is only interested in what will give them the highest ratings in any particular moment. They got all they could out of the gas situation and lost interest.

Gee, I don't know. Perhaps there is an election happening soon and some body's poll numbers are sinking. It must be a twist of fate. Nah, we don’t have anybody like that in this country.
