my computer is getting slower day by day what shall i do to increase its speed
it takes more than 5 minutes to start up its really getting slow
its pentium 4

HI... check ur system for viruses or spywares... run disk clean up and delete temperary internet files .... if u are using wndows xp ram should be minimum 256 Mb... increase ram if u want to...... ur active drive should ve 2 gb space free and run disk defragment

Try scanning for spyware and viruses. If this doesn't help, check your available RAM by opening Task Manager (ctrl+shift+esc) and going to the Performance tab. Also, check the amount of free space on your hard drive...if it is below 2GB, you should get a bigger/faster one.

Check your computer for viruses, spyware, adware and other stuff like that.
After you removed all those, disable all the programs that starts when "Windows" starts and you don't need them to do that.
Now you can try to remove any software and files you don't need, then defragment your hard-drive.

try disk clean up compress old files get rid of cookies and defrag
and a system rstore to a earlier time when it was doing good
