Good question... but I can't answer that.

I have purchased one myself from a local artist here in the US. I purchased it for what was on the painting and not as an investment. It's kind of like my Scotch... I like a few $40 bottles but the Oban I love and it's worth the extra $20! It's all about taste brother!

Limited edition prints of any value will have a number on them Eg. 100/3000. This means that they were the 100th print of a run of 3000. The lower the number on your print, the higher the value of your 'Limited Edition' print.

This is because the plate used to produce the print has its best quality at the beginning of the run and the more prints that are run off, the lower the value as the quality starts to deteriorate.

If your print does not have a value such as 100/3000 - then it's not worth anything really. If it does have a value and it's high - once again it's worth little/nothing.

Subject matter comes into it, too, but that's a whole different area.

It depends really how long you have it. If you buy a limited edition print and keep hold of it for about 20 - 30 years then you will probably find that it will be worth a lot more than you initially paid for it.

Surely something is only worth what you are willing to pay for it, if you are doing it for an investment then yes they are crap. If you want it because it lights up your life and front room, or it makes someone else happy then you cannot put a price on it.
