Because the people who wrote the questions put them in when they asked because they thought it was.
Remember, Yahoo! does not change the grammar of a question before posting it, although in some cases it would be good if they did.
P.S. Where did you get the term "floating apostrophe" from (correct spelling)?
P.P.S. Mike10613, that thing with getting loads of e-mails about 3 best answers happened to me too. I think if they're going to do that we should get 10 points every time they send the e-mail.

Simply because the person given the task of writing the page does not have a complete grasp of english grammar, and the editor (or whoever is responsible for checking it) didn't notice it or is labouring under the same misapprehension.
It is a shame that so many people make such simple mistakes, but I think you will just have to get used to it, as it is quite a while since grammar was taught properly in our state schools.
PS Me too! I've had about 10 e-mails for each of yesterday's 4 best answers now, and they're still coming!

What's a floating apostrophy? What does Anti-social behaviour orders have to do with the Yahoo front page. Why am on on this site. I had 21 emails from Yahoo this morning saying I had tops answers! I only had 3 but their computer likes to send emails. I think I'll wander off and write a blog or something.....

I think it's OK with an acronym. Shows the "s" isn't part of it.
