I NEVER had any blood work done when I was pregnant. That was 20 some years ago and if the Dr didn't think there was a problem - I got no tests of anytime.
Things are different now.

I've only had bloodwork done 3 times while I've been pregnant.
Once, for a blood test to make sure I was pregnant. Second time, to test for various things like HIV, and third for the glucose tolerance screening.
But your doctor may not do all those things. I'd say at the very minimum to expect the glucose screening one. I think that's pretty standard.
Congratulations and good luck!

Congrats!! When I was pregnant they did blood work right away and then when you are about 18 weeks I think they do other tests and screening tests. Any of these tests you can say no to. Just talk to your doctor. Each doctor is different and may want different tests run depending on your situation. Good luck!!

I don't remember getting any blood work done. They take alot of urine samples though. On your first visit, they might talk to you about things you should/should not do while pregnant. They also instruct you to start taking vitamins. And then they'll tell you what to expect on your next few visits and the symptoms you may start to experience. The doctors don't really do alot of work during the early stages of pregnancy.

Con-grads on your little bundle of joy. They will do a blood screening today, later for glucose tolerance and before delivery . Only others as by your doctor or as needed.Cheers to a healthy pregnancy.

if i am not mistaken, i think they do a seris of blood work 2-4 times. They check everything to make sure there are no chromosonal defects. I know the last set of blood work that i took was 2 weeks ago, to check for gestional diabetes

Well, they do a series of screens at your first visit. Then if all is normal, you do a glucose screen about 20 weeks or so. If you are RH- you will have to get a shot at 28 weeks.
That's about all that's necessary. There are other, optional, tests your doc may want to run, but you can always make the decision for yourself.

It depends on the doctor and your medical history. For example, I have diabetes in my family, so I got two glucose screening tests instead of the regular one. Sometimes, it also depends on what you want your blood screened for, such as stds or cystic fibrosis (sorry for my spelling..it's still early).
Congratulations on your pregnancy!

Congratulations! It sounds as if you're happy and excited.
See what the doctor says. Each pregnancy is a little bit different.
