I started my period yesterday. Which I am really excited about (my husband and I are trying to conceive). I had surgery back in February so I think my body was still in shock and that's the reason why I did not have my period in 5 months (surgery was to remove cysts from my ovaries before they got worse). When I started... it was light (like usual) and then got a little heavier (not much) and now it is light again. I want to try to get it heavier... the way that it is supposed to be. I have tried exercising for about 20 min. and I have tried having sex (both USUALLY work for me)... but it is still a little on the light side. I don't know what else I can do. I KNOW that I am getting symptoms of PMSing... I am still cramping (a lot)... my breasts are still tender (not as bad as before I started)... and I am still very bitchy (as my husband put it). My question is... is there any way that I can make my period heavier and get it back on track (the way it was before the surgery)?!?

I know that it is an odd question... but after not having a period for almost 6 months... I began to think that they took out both of my ovaries during surgery. I thought I might not be able to have kids at all...

With what your body has been through all your body needs to get back on track now is time. While they were in there removing cyst they shook and pulled on your ovaries...that's why it took so long for you to have a period again. They forgot what to do. Your periods will come heavy and often for a while and then they will be back on track. Good Luck.

I had the same kind of surgery and in the months after the surgery my period was very irregular, like it had been before the surgery. The doctor recommended to me to use the pill for a year to get my period back to regular. Seeing as you are trying to conceive, this might not be an option for you, but it was the way my doctor recommended doing it and it worked.

Birth control pills really do regulate your period, but Idon't know if you will be willing to give it a try since you are willing to conceive...On the other hand, light periods are not bad, this is the dream for most girls...I don't think the fact your periods are light will be an obstacle for conceiving but that's just my opinion. You should see your doc maybe they'll do some bloodwork and see if everything is normal. Best of luck to you!!!

Birth control will help regulate your period, but you want to have a kid so that is out of the question.
