There can be lot of reasons for a site to be slow loading.

- The server speed
- The server technology
Some ASP.NET sites tend to load slowly
- The flash content
More flash content makes the site slow for low band users
- Dropping connection
Some times this can be pretty annoying
- Content in the page
For example if you have lot of images (specially the BMP files) in the page, it’ll take time to load.

The above is some quick list for your reference. I’m pretty sure you’ll find more reason with a small research in the net. Good luck.
BTW. If you think this answer is the best out of all the answers, you know what to do :)

The internet is like a road system. Sometimes there are traffic jams and bottlenecks.

Like if there's an accident at the lincoln tunnel, it would take longer to get to new jersey, but getting into conneticut wouldn't be a problem. Or if it's morning rush hour, it takes longer to get into the city than to get out of the city.

If there's a lot of people accessing myspace.com, but not so many at hotmail.com, then hotmail.com will load faster.

Content, the more content (flash movies, images, ...) the slower the page is going to load. Also, who ever hosts the site will have an impact on that as well. If the host is serving multiple large sites, they may not have the bandwidth to compensate, so the site will load slower. Lastly, your Internet connection, computer (browser, speed, ... etc) all have a part in how things are going to load and how long they are going to take.

Hope I helped ....

because some websites get cached (saved on your harddisk) so if you ask to go there again, instead of the DNS and web servers go look for it in the internet, it pulls it out of the cached websites.
