It shouldn't be too different...downtown is COOL, in the daytime and the night, but nighttime is even more spectacular down there. I swear, there's someone on every corner playing a sax or a guitar. The clubs are cool, parking is horrible. It's best to do things on foot downtown. It's very diverse in SD, lots of African, Mexican, Asian and Black peoples. People are pretty friendly, you can visit the beach anytime you want...the new Green Line trolley will amaze you...um...you can visit the Zoo, Wild Animal Park if you want, see a gay parade (I'm not kidding). Yeah but downtown is the business, go see that first. That's where all the tourists go first...oh yeah, and SeaPort Village. See that too, it's right by the waterfront and there's lots of little stores and stuff. You can take little minicruises, visit kite shops, novelty stores...now you can rent these little tiny minicars and drive them around for $30 an hour and they have time points that tell you the history of SD...pretty cool. Everywhere in SD is hot lately. Good luck.

I live in S.D. It's truly a great city. It might be a bit overwhelming at first moving in with the high housing prices and everything but hopefully you've found a great deal and all that. Once you get settled in I'm sure you'll love it. There's a lot to do. Going to the beach is a must during the summer. The nightlife in downtown is awesome, too. Try some of the clubs if you're into that. There are plenty of malls around if you like shopping and/or going to the movies. What i like to do is go to the beach at night with someone, that's always fun especially with a significant other. Of course there's Seaworld here, the Zoo, and the Wild Animal Park. Lots of stuff. People are very friendly so I'm sure you'll make friends quickly. Just remember the traffic can get sucky sometimes so give yourself enough time to get places if it's during rush hour. Good luck with your move! I'm sure it'll be great for you!

Actually it is very much like San Jose in many respects -
weather, cost of everything, people, traffic.
San Diego only better in closer to beachs, baseball and
football teams.
What part of San Diego, to be more specific.

You'll like it because of the weather and the friendly people. The price of buying a house is over-the-top but finding a roommate to split the rent shouldn't be a problem.
