Because they cannot accept the fact that they are peons in this universe. They think they are special for some reason.
Were just a bug in the overall scheme of things. Just like that ant you stepped on to get to work. We are nothing different.

It's not always a crutch - in fact so many people today profess to have NO faith, that it can hardly be argued anymore that anyone goes to church "to be seen going to church". I can certainly think of more fun ways to spend a couple of hours out of my day. Faith is a journey. You should respect other people's right to their own beliefs. It is not your place to judge them.

I was brought up in my faith. I didn't look for it. Later I converted to Catholicism. I never thought of it as a crutch, or as something to complete me. I believe in my faith because it's what I believe.
