Budapest is fun a cheep. You can also go to the baths and get warmed up.

I went skiing in Austria once around Christmas and I was surprised how cheep it was so that is fun. Someone mentioned the Christmas Markets in Germany, they are pretty good and Germany is a fun place to have a few drinks.

Here in Copenhagen Tivioli is open around Christmas (the amusement park). That place is really fun.

Barcelona's lovely.

Prague would be nice in Winter, although there may not be enough to do for a whole week.

You could travel around Italy a little - maybe Florence and Rome. There is a god train system there that could take you between places.

Go to Germany and visit the Christmas markets, they are superb and well worth a visit. You can get some really cheap flights to Germany if you scout about. Thats assuming you live in the UK of course.

I'd look out for bargain coach trips advertised in your local freebie paper. Good value, somebody else does the work and they always take you somewhere interesting.

It depends on where you are but what about traveling to the nearest big city to see the lights and displays and staying downtown to enjoy everything around you? Have fun whatever you do!

Prague - beautiful at Christmas time (snow) and the architecture is stunning.
I wouldn't say "cheap", but you can definitely get good deals.
