Tried filling in his burrows, and also putting big plastic containers in the entrance, neither worked.

Here are my suggestions:

If a wombat is digging a burrow under your shed or house it can be deterred by placing Naphthalene flakes or chicken droppings around the opening. Always check to make sure the burrow is empty first or wait until the wombat has left at night.

Block up all openings around the building so the wombat cannot get underneath it. REMEMBER if you get rid of a wombat, another one will move in.

PETS AND WOMBATS

Never let your dog chase a wombat. The wombat can kill it crushing the dogs head against the burrow roof, trapping it with its strong rear end.

GARDENS

Fences buried into the ground will protect vegie patches or gardens, again, chicken droppings around the garden will deter wombats and fertilize at the same time. Wombats are inquisitive but usually only eat native grasses so they hardly ever touch gardens and crops.

DAMAGE TO FENCES

A wombat uses the same trial on its nightly walks and can cause damage to fences that let stock out and rabbits in.

This damage can be stopped by a solidly constructed gate swung from the top. Place at one of the holes the wombat is using, while at the same time regularly repair the nearby holes.By doing this wombats can be trained to use the gate. The gate does not have to be much larger than a wombat hole (30 to 40 cm in diameter).

Make the swing gate quite hard to open, as wombats will push harder and persist longer than sheep of goats. This is why wombats are known as the “Bulldozers of the Bush”.

Another wombat gate you could try is an old culvert pipe or tin/colourbond sheet, 1 meter long, bent to make a tunnel and placed in the hole in the fence half in the ground. Most stock will not crawl along it.

DUE TO LOSS OF HABITAT WOMBATS SOMETIMES BECOME UNWANTED VISITORS UNDER YOUR HOUSE OR SHED AND CAN CAUSE DAMAGE TO FENCES. WIRES CAN HELP WITH THESE PROBLEMS. THERE IS NO NEED TO KILL THEM, REMEMBER THEY ARE PROTECTED BY LAW.

Also try a wobat resuce center in your area; they might be able to remove the wombat from your yard but then you might have another one move in! Remember they are endangered and its good that you don't want to cause harm to them. Hope I was of help to you.

What Does A Wombat Eat

I believe this is kind of a moral debate question. I have thought the same since I went vegetarian a few years ago, when a friend told me how if I am doing it for the suffering, well, everything is Alive so everything would suffer. Every living being, even plants themselves feed off something. I don't think anything ever really dies, it just transforms. Plants, we eat them alive, mushrooms are still alive, vegetables are still alive. Why do you think we can feed off things? The more natural and unprocessed they are the more energy we get. Why do you think so? Our bodies take the energy from the things we eat, because they are alive. We don't hear plants screaming or suffering, even though the fact they get burned at times, or damaged could be equaled to them suffering because they are dying. Animals scream, they get scared, they suffer. I believe it is normal for every being to go through suffering when something is not so appealing. Many people unfortunately, do not respect life as it is nowadays. That's why they kill anything excessively, carelessly... there's no conscience or awareness that life is everywhere, and it is to be respected, we are part of it! This discussion could go on forever, that is why I say that it is a debate that relies on the morals of each individual. I am a vegan now because it is my desicion to not consume things that involve or imply somehow animals going through what they do when they do not have to. I've eaten salmon thrice since I became vegan, which was recent. I have done it aware of what they go through to get to my plate, which hurts a little lot. I thank them lots, they know, but, I still know how awful it must be to stop breathing... still hurts, which is why I haven't eaten anymore lately. Death is part of Life, whether we accept it or not, but I believe it shouldn't be controlled by humans when someone or something dies, not even ants!! Even if I believe God is in us, it's still very hard for me to accept how stupidly influencial humankind thinks they are... I hate that humans can manipulate what goes on around them, I feel as if it should be nature who does that, not us. Anyhow, great question. Again, moral debate. Peace out and In! By the way, to the dude below me: WATER IS ALIVE!!!!! Do you think that for things to be alive they need to have eyes or ears, or a freaking nervious system!!?? How do you think something can REVIVE even at an almost-dying fase if it consumes water!!?? Ugh! Have your own criteria dude and be more informed.

Why are you so averse to causing harm? I vote that you harm him.
