Since 9/11 the buzz word for the current US administration is "Terrorism".
Yes, the US was attacked on our own soil. Yes the US united and agreed that action must be taken. We stood behind the government as we unleashed our troops to where we were told the ones responsible were hiding, Afghanistan.
Fast forward to today: We are in Iraq and siding with Israel to remove Hezbollah from any position of power. The reason according to our leaders is again "Terrorism".
But is that why we went to Iraq in the first place?
After we ATTACKED Iraq, we created instability in that country, because we had NO PLAN on how to police the region in the aftermath. Then we wonder why after the "mission was accomplished" we were suddenly under seige by 'insurgents' or 'terrorists'?
We contributed to the terror and instability in that region, yet we want to claim everyone else is a terrorist for not wanting us there.
Imagine if that happened to us on OUR soil?
Who are the terrorists?

I don't think we are over using the word terrorist these days. It's losing it's meaning and becoming blurred.
We should take a good portion of the blame for the instability in the Middle East and esp, any ramifications that may result around the world.
"Keeping them on the run" may sound like a good plan, but there are serious flaws:
1) Terrorist groups create cells that do not reside in any one place.
2) It takes a LOT money, resources, and energy to track them down.
3) Civil rights become violated in the process and the era of Big Brother comes to life.
4) Mistakes and the 'collateral damage' left in the wake of our pre-emptive military strikes only helps groups recruit more people that are against us. (only now with greater conviction because you killed someone they loved).

James and others - If someone creates a website with the word Truth in it, does it make it so?
Don't turn this into a Liberal/Conservative crap argument. I am an American that is all that should matter.
I question what is happening for good reason. I believe in Justice and doing what is Right, not just what is right for America according to an elected official. I served in the Marines and I support our troops, though I seriously question our current government. I earned that right and am willing to do more to make our country better. However I don't believe this 'war', mainly the tactics being used, are the answer. At least respect my stance.

Do you feel Grand Ayatollah Ali al-Sistani is part of the problem?
The impression I get, is he is like the elder chiefs who are wise enough to understand war and urges to maintain peace, while the younger generation is caught up in the immediate and wants justice through violence and immediate results.
Do you get that impression?

Something naive US politicians can't understand is that the main source of terrorism and instability in the middle east including Iraq are mullahs of Iran. Unfortunately US doesn't take any practical measures against mullahs of Iran and is waiting to see that Russia, China, and the European Eunion are deliberately sticking to the useless negotiations with mullahs of Iran aiming at giving enough time to mullahs to complete their nuclear bomb(s). The whole last 4 years this has been the story.
Dear asker, we had a horrible earthquake about two years ago in Bam city in Kerman province and yet the people there are living in what we call connexes in Iran ( metalic containers having no facilities of living , very cold in winter and very hot in summer ) and yet mullahs of Iran are sending 1,000,000 tonf of crude oil ( about 4-5 million barrels ) to Syria FREE OF CHARGE and fifty million dollars a month to Hezbollah ( apart from what they give to Hamas and Jihad-e-Islami. You certainly have seen ( otherwise please see the pictures on AP's site ) that Hezbollah is giving USD 12,000 to those Lebanese who have lost their homes and USD 8,000 to those who have partly been hurt. Where can Hezbollah get this money from? Nasrallah complained that Arab states are not supporting him.
Believe that Bush has understood where the source of the problem of the World Terrorism is but naive politicians in his administration cannot make the decisice decision. They will wait so long that after some time mullahs of Iran will blackmail even the US with their nuclear bomb and you have no other option but to give them the Middle East in first place and then new regions step by step.

By far the most dangerous terrorist in America is currently residing in the White House. George W Bush is attacking the American way of life in the most damaging ways possible--legally and covertly. True, he never fired or shot or killed anyone (that we know of), but if allowed to continue his current course of action, America will be unrecognizable. In it's place will be a dictatorship far closer to the ones the more traditional terrorists want anyway.

The government's line of thought was if we took out the Iraq government, the Iraq citizens would be safer and in the process so would the US citizens. Their plan failed because they didn't think insurgents would be as strong as they are. The failed to realize what type of a foothold the insurgents would have and that is why we are in this mess today.

I hate to say it but I think the real terrorists are those guys who have the little chart that tells us all what level of terror we need to be at today.
They've been a lot more skillful at motivating to people to act out of fear than the guys who crashed planes into buildings.

Yeah, because before we got there Iraq was peaceful happy land where everyone got along and had enough to eat...........
The U.N. voted to disarm Hezbollah. Of course, they never did jack about it but vote. The US has seen that one before........... Maybe that's why Isreal's a little hesitant to trust their ability to keep the peace.

Gosh, didn't realize how simple it was until I read your statement - shucks. Never realized how stable, peaceful and loving that neighborhood was before we went there and upset their little applecart. Such enlightenment, have you applied for a government grant to get a high school education yet, I'm certain based on your assertions they would gladly give you one.
