Just bought a Compaq, and the clerk states that these are pretty good, so I figured I would try it, since I had the Celeron Emachine before, and the power supply to the Emachine fried less than 2 yrs. Wanted something better than a Celeron, with more Memory. The Compaq has 512 MB,64 Processor 3500plus with 200GB. Ok, only been using it for a day and I have seen slower surfing connections, the RAM makes noises constantly, which unsure if thats normal, being a new PC with that much RAM. I don't see many online stores that sell a non-celeron PC or laptop, and ones that due the price is over $700. Don't really have too many PC stores locally, so unsure what to do here. Should I take the PC back, if so what kind of PC do you recommend that would go smoother and quick to load etc??? I welcome replies from competent Tech 's, or someone who has a lot of experience within this field. All mature replies are gratefully appreciated!!

What you have by spec seems good; but assembly was quite lousy, so is the price of a brand name product. It sounded my Athlon XP 2000+ beats what you have hands down, this is not right. If you wanted to run that eMachine buy a power supply (local or eBay) and return the Compaq.

My friends that avoid assembly is doing it for the psychological fear that something can snap (because snapping sounds are common), that's true but nothing will break unless you are forcing it with a sumo-wrestler force. I avoid it now only for convenience. So bring back that eMachine seems a good idea to me.
