Why is this concept still so far out of reach for american's. Is it just the lack of females aspiring to the highest office? Or is it sexist motivations keeping them from ascending in american government? Hillary Clinton is our first true option...by why arent there more? Why is the majority of the house of representatives and the senate still male? Can we see a future where we are run equally by both men and women?

Be careful what you wish for. You might get it. I agree that Hillary Clinton appears to be the most logical candidate right now but I don't think she would get the votes in the south, west and heartland in order to do it. Just look at how the states voted in the last election. I think the first female president or the first African - American president is going to be even further to the right than a typical republican white male president. I think that is the only way they'll have a chance to get elected.

The reason there aren't more women running is because most women are smart enough to know it is a waste of time.
I can't say WHEN we will have a woman president. I do think we will EVENTUALLY but I don't think it will be in my lifetime. (I lost my crystal ball)
If Hillary runs, she has a chance, but I think it is an outside chance. Right now it is a man's domain and like every ohter profession women have to fight hard to get in.
Women had to fight for the right to vote
Woman had to fight to get into politics in the first place. Women have come far but we still have far to go.
And the Presidency is no different.

Probably gender stereotypes are still in the social mind. But I guess the tendency of successful women-politicians and even women-candidates for presidency is not just on the run, but it works. At least, seems so.
