If you're looking for horror movies there's only one place to look. Asia. Some of the best, if not THE best horror movies come out of Japan and Korea, then get turned into mindless remakes by Hollywood, who in turn change them around in such a way that the so that they'll be more "appealing" to american audiences. The originals are considered "too weird" for their tastes. These days it's rare for a horror movie to come out of the US that hasn't already been made in Asia.
With all of the above in mind I suggest you go for the following .... and if possible watch them BEFORE they get remade
Ringu, Ringu 2 and Ringu 0 (that's Zero) (The Ring - as you might have guessed - but they only really remade the first one)
Ju-On: The Grudge 1 & 2 (again, it's been remade)
The Eye (not yet remade)
Dark Water (remade)
Dumplings (don't think it will ever get remade ... nasty stuff ... what's in the Dumplings? you'll have to watch it to find out)
Kairo (remade already, it's called "Pulse")
One Missed Call (not yet remade, but in production)
Infection (just watched that last night for the first time, sloppy/slippery stuff)
To be honest I could go on for at least anpother 20 excellent horror movies but I think that like most things it's always best if you discover them yourself.
The list above can serve as a guide and when you're through with those there's no doubt that you'll be a fan of Asian horror.
Enjoy your viewing ... and I hope you don't mind reading subtitles.
Take a look at the link below for more movies.
