Pretty much what has been stated. Management will collect and verify that everyone has worked the hours claimed on their time sheets. The information is then sent either to a company accountant, or some equivalent of a Management and Finance division so that all the appropriate tax equations are done and paychecks are drawn up. As for when you get paid, you can ask someone you work with when payday is. Typical options are weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and two times a month. When payroll is being completed, that means that payday is right around the corner. Some companies do payroll the week before payday and others do payroll the week of payday.
