Well ive asked them that question and they always say its nice to see who ur chatting with, but as soon as they see the pic they make comments on my physical appearance. I am at the point now that i tell them im fat and ugly (im not) just to freak them out.
But I did once go right off a chat buddy wen i saw his pic, so I now totally understand the reason they do it.

ALL you people out there have once in a life time commited this crime do not lie guys girls men women we all do it maybe not as much as the males do but they need the reasurence into wether there wasting there time its mostly judge on the outside if your pretty well they try and talk to you and some even go for the whole web cam and then some may even end up together its a typical reaction expected but some of you's do it to much get over ut and be for real ok soo yes once in a while you would wanna check them out algud understand but dont be so harsh blingin$$$

It's curiosity. People want to know what a person looks like when they're talking to them. Also, I'm sure that a boy doesn't want to "waste his time" chatting with a girl that they don't find attractive. Would YOU want to chat with an ugly guy?

Well, the boy is afraid if the girl is lying about her appearance. Or there looking for a g/f so they wanna know what she really looks like.

it is because if they have found out that the girl is not as pretty as they expected, then they will stop chatting with the girl.

I don't. I'm a boy. But some do, maybe because they feel she is not a girl, and want her to provide some evidence for it.
