STDs don't often cause sore throat. The most common STD that infects the throat is gonorrhea, and it generally is asymptomatic. Far and away the most likely explanation for her symptoms is a viral upper respiratory infection, which also can cause a coated tongue. A less likely possibility is mononucleosis. Contrary to popular understanding, the most common symptoms of mono are sore throat, often with white spots, and fever--usually none of the profound fatigue people talk about.

Tonsilitus or a throat infection. Its normal for young people to get it. Im 16 and get it all the time in winter. Your throat and tonsils swell up and its really painfull when you swallow. You have to go to the doctor to get some antibiotics if you dont they will keep on growing and can cover your throat and you wont be able to eat. Tell her to go see her doctor asap he will give her antibiotics and strong painkillers for the pain.

Sounds just like strep throat to me, but either way your friend is gonna have to see a doc. Only he can determine if it is strep or an STD and either way antibiotics are gonna have to be prescribed.

it's probably strep throat. i don't think you can get std from oral. have her rinse (or rather garggle) her mouth in saltwater and spit it out. it helps...
you could go to the doctor. but you wouldn't wanna waste money for the doctor telling you that it's just strep throat do you?

the disease your friend is a bad one. But this will not afect her. this is known as the jumptoyourfriend disease.
it will skip her and afect you.
the only known cure is to do the same to her boyfriend as she did without her knowing.
its that or die.
goodluck.....
