Charity shops may not take them. I would suggest looking at your local Freescycle site at www.freecycle.org
Freecycle is an Internet / e-mail based idea to give things to people in the local community. You can not only donate things but pick up things. All items listed are Free so you just need to arrange collection.

It depends where you live. A lot of charities run local schemes helping people with learning difficulties or mental health problems refit computers. Check upmystreet.com or contact your local charity shop
