96% of people do not get divorced due to domestic violence. The reason being is that they are controlled to such an extent that they cannot start proceedings or are threatened by their spouse. The act of violence is not to hurt but to control. It also allows your partner to come and go as they please. Remember emotional blackmail is a key element in cases like this. Your whole persona is taken apart and you are made to be the guilty one. Most cases like this end up in death or police intervention due to the magnitude of the problem. Children become victims as well and this whole story can re-occur in their adult life when they raise there own children. To prevent this happening one has to become independent, lay charges at the police station and try filter away as much money as possible before your partner finds out. Set up a house and for emergency's and inform work/school of the situation. The more people aware of the situation the better. Good luck and be strong my friend.

ABSOLUTELY!

That is a deal breaker whether the man or the woman are the abuser.
You should know the answer to this, but our feelings for our SO get in the way of our better judgement.
Please remember domestic violence always escalates, it will continue to get worse until someone is jail or seriously injured/dead.
Think of the future & how you want to live it!

No, a marriage should never come to that. People who end up on either side of domestic violence failed in their marriage long ago, likely before it even started.

Yes. A person never really changes, they might act different but they do not really become different so domestic violence, even after counseling etc, will probably continue.

Even more than adultery. Violence is absolutely unforgiveable. Any man that hits a woman is inadequate. Divorce him. Then take up something like kick boxing so in future you can defend yourself. My friend only weighed about 7 stone (about 100 pounds I think - fourteen pounds in one stone) and using kick boxing she could defend herself from her husband who weighed double what she did.

abuse is an ugly thing that reveals the depth of how love can be so passionate it makes us crazy, too crazy, and sometimes love is just there waiting for someone to give in but they have no idea how to love back and this frustrates them and makes them go crazy, love makes you understand and wait, but you have to love yourself more then anything and therefore divorce sometimes is the necessary route, divorce is hard, but not being able to feel love for yourself is alot worse.

I think that would be classed as unreasonable behaviour, in which case you need to provide 5 examples and then it would be a legal reason to divorce.
