I think character is more important. As far as reputation goes, that's just what people think about you. If you are person of good character, you're reputation should automatically be a good one, therefore, good character, automatic good rep. So I believe it begins with your character.

How'd I do?

Reputation is built upon others experiences or knowledge of you and your deeds. Character is defined most easily by what it is you do when you think nobody is looking. I would choose character over reputation any day. No matter what happens I want to love and admire the man I see in the mirror. What others have to say or think about me is irrelevant.

Character really determines who you are...
Reputation merely talks about others' point of views, it's no other than opinions
If you are someone of good character, polite, humble, kind, compassionate, dilligent, you will have a good reputation too
but if you are someone of bad character, impolite, fierce, high-tempered, bullying, taunting, mischievous, notorious, then you may or may not have a good reputation i,e, a good reputation in your gang, your "community"
basically character is more important.

character of a person refers to how the person behave and what morals or rules this person set for his or herself. Reputation is the overall mindset of this person.. whether this person had good reputation or not.. in terms of maybe workethics or human ethics.. depending on what catergory u are looking at. if i were to chose... it is not a matter of choosing... cos if i am Dr jackel and Mr Hyde.. I can behave very nice in the public eye and can be mean and nasty privately... reputation normally spread by word of a thing u have done to earn that good repu or u may have done a bad thing and earn a bad repu.... it is decided by others... charcter is in bulit or self taught.... so i think it is impossible to choose between the both of them...

character is who YOU are..
reputation is what people think of you..

i'd say character's more important - to hell with what people have to say... you know who you are, and what you are. people will always talk, hence reputation is always vulnerable.. but if you have a good character, then your reputation is automatically taken care of..!
