During its inception, the purpose of reservation was to uplift the downtrodden masses and weaker sections of society, to facilitate their participation in every field and to ensure that they get equal opportunities. There is also scope for working for the development of their communities too. So that the under privileged can develop and equal themselves with other classes of society.

This was appropriate considering the post Independence period, but today it has become responsible for various prejudices and unwanted hatred among different communities. Today it is not possible to label a particular caste or religion as forward or backward. There are poor people in forward castes and rich people in backward classes too !
Thus, the purpose of reservation is not met in this modern world.

Today the concept of reservation is exploited in many ways. Many of the economically stable people are receiving scholarships and jobs on the basis of their religion or casts, even if they are not capable. Some of the talented people and who are not financially well are losing the opportunities in spite of possessing knowledge. Its only because of the reservation system. The result is poor quality of work, inefficiency and lack of development.

The plans, ideas and principles which are applicable before 50 years need not be appropriate and applicable today. Everything changes with time, but what about us and our governments? We are afraid of changes, as it may throw down the power of the government. We dread to do amendments because we receive more profit by their existence.

In today’s modern world, every person should be given opportunity based on their qualification, abilities and talents. It is unreasonable to recruit an incompetent person on basis of reservation and shadowing the talent of worthwhile candidates. I feel that it’s time for the government to think about the issue and take a reasonable decision.

You said 'to take India forward" and for this, "Reservation is wrong".

If you want to take India forward and make it to compete in the world, the reservation is acting as a deterrent. There should not be any reservation, except on economical aspect. Bright people should be given to work. And a good basic level education should be given to all, so that any one compete in this world of competition.

Can we compare a donkey with a horse?

And Minz., thank you for your answer, it made me to laugh heartily.

Wrong. The policy is full of ills and vested interestes of the politicians. See the % of total reservation. That means you are simply trying to divide the entire nation. Forget about moving forward with reservation. You are back to stone age.

Nothing should come free to anyone all thru their life. If someone is deprived of access to quality education, facilities they can be given preference in educational institutions and employment. That should be only once in their life time. They cann't keep on claiming reservation thru out their life and for their children.

The buck should stop somewhere. In the long run, the social infrastructure should be improved so as everyone has access to quality education and related facilities.

Reservations are good if they are set up properly. They should be on the basis of economic status and not caste. If u notice the figures, u will find that in many IIT's, they are not able to even fill up that 27% reservation. So hat about 50%???
That's really unfair and it will only destroy the identity and pride of IIT's & IIM's globally.

but normally in our country 'India' maximum of the peaple prefer the local journey instead of reservations ....

And according to me the reservation is better when we are prefering a journey with our family & if v r alone than we can freely prefer the reservation !

W-R-O-N-G.

it is not necessary to take India forward.

even justification is not necessary because the whole thing stinks. it is dirty politics, implimentation of century old british policy of "divide & rule" is behind it.
