I wonder that myself sometimes. I think in the early years of the internet it was mainly more intelligent people, even "geeks" but judging by a lot of the posts people place on here and all the garbage on the internet, I would say its probably about equal between intelligent and stupid.

How come?First you categorized the people in two groups Internet users and non Internet users. This is wrong categorization since there will be various groups within Internet users and Internet users who may be intelligent and not. Therefore you cannot deter min this way.you have to do better assessment.

Not necessarily, but they have faster access to more information and can connect to more people all over the world in such a way that would be almost impossible without the Internet.

So yeah, more information on your fingertips, more capability to connect...

Let's look at this comparison:

News:
Online: Blogs, professional websites, insider news
Offline: TV, newspapers and tabloids (often outdated or late)

Communication:
Online: Chat, email, message boards, every other website (Yahoo Answers included)
Offline: ...phone, face-to-face, snail mail

Information gathering:
Online: Wikipedia, specialized websites, digital directories and archives
Offline: Library, bookstore, taking courses and arranged meetings with professionals

Business:
Online: e-stores, digitized firms, improved work chains, records, integration, etc...
Offline: Small firms that are almost unheard of outside their town

I rest my case.

We can see that most of what we can do offline, we can do online with more efficiency.

It sounds harsh and of course there will be exceptions, but yes Internet users are smarter than non-users. Not just from that knowledge but from all the knowledge it brings you. Read Shakespeare all you want, I get data at 6 MBs

No ...if you are a smart person then you are a smart person....using the Internet ...whether you do or don't has absolutely nothing to do with your level of intelligence.

I think internet doesn't make people more intelligent.

You are or not, and then, you use internet or not.
