You guys are getting a lot of flack these days.
How do you feel about what is said around the world about America and Americans.
I personally take people as I find them and I don't believe everything I read in the paper that's why I'm asking this question. I realise that what a government does and what the people think is very different.

I have read all the answers over and over again and to pick the best answer is so difficult. From your answers I have worked out that the majority are very patriotic and don't always agree with their government. You seem to think you are the only country being targetted, think outside the circle. Your attitude is smililar to our countrymen. We don't want to fight or be part of it either. We have internal wars in our country being fought be immigrants from the countries that are being attacked. Your country is one of many that is having problems because of the invasion and interference of other countries, mine included. (Australia) I love my country and can see how wonderful it would be without war as you would do too but unfortunately we both must live with human nature and greed. Thank you so much for your honesty and thoughts. Just remember you are not alone in your thoughts. I can't put this question to the vote, I must choose for obvious reasons.

I completely understand why so many others are anti-american at the moment... our leaders have made some really bad choices lately...choices that have affected millions of lives.
I ask people to remember that 'rule by the people' is unfortunately not the rule in America...the entire system is so corrupt that we can't even tell if the votes are counted properly--so corrupt that people feel helpless and don't even want to try anymore.
I do not judge anyone based on the actions of their government and I sincerely appreciate that others feel the same way.
Peace. We're all in this together.

I agree with you, we do get a lot of flack these days. Although the majority of the United States doesn't really look at what people think, we do what we think is right. For example, we went into Iraq because we thought it was the right thing to do (moms and dads couldn't even walk there kids to school, because they were afraid of being shot by a sniper on a rooftop or something) when other countries had no intent to help or provide assistance. Although our allies in the U.K. came through to help us and we appreciate that more than they will ever know. Us Americans try hard to make life easier for everone here in the United States and for other countries such as Iraq. Even though we may not seem to exceed in the public eye or in the media, it's the hope that we give to our people and many other nations that really matters.
Many people say that the United States will no longer be a super power in the world because China will become the next super power. But nobody seems to understand that there can be "Two or more" super powers at one time. When push comes to shove the United States will not back down to other countries. The United States will remain a super power and always will. The American people are very patriotic and hopeful for our countries future on becoming an even greater good than we ever were. I am a true believer that the United States helps keep hope and peace in the world, and it shall always be that way.
God Bless America!

Personally, I don't give it a lot of thought. The "flack" you refer to would occur regardless of whatever course the United States takes. When we became the only remaining super power we also became a target. Some of the criticism is credible most is not. If you recall, in Germany, the march in protest to support the poor Iraqi's America was murdering (soldiers). They were very vocal in denouncing us, supported by their local media they gained a lot of coverage. But these same folks and their media were silent when these same poor Iraqi's were spraying JP fuel on Kurdish villages(civilians) and igniting it with tracer rounds. To me, their silence was a lot louder than their protest. Should I worry or be concerned about this sort of flack? I don't think so, I'm just amazed that anyone who bases their condemnations on such a double standard are not a little embarrassed about it.
If you come here you can hear the same thing, so it's not just other countries. Everything is a lie or conspiracy. For an example, just recently at work I was informed by a lady the real reasons Bush went into Iraq and his secret agenda. I agreed with her then inquired just where did she get her classified information from so I too could see it. Things went downhill pretty fast then, I probably won't get a Christmas card from her.

If America was so bad then why are millions of people trying to get into the USA and become citizens? People will always post the worst things they can find about a country that is more blessed than theirs but they will never write about the good things that are accomplished by the American involvements. Granted, we are not perfect..... but America is far better than many countries in the world.

Personally I am as upset with my government as people in other countries are.
It all just stinks of control and power.
I think a bunch of power hungry and corrupt individuals have become the power brokers in American government. It is scary. But the thing that worries me more is the fact that most Americans really think that they are being helped by a lot of the things that are actually ruining our country.

I must say it's a relief to see a comment like yours. I am American and I don't think much about it really. People just don't understand, and don't want to, what is actually going on! All they see is their views, and opinions, and how "they" (religious group, country etc. etc. etc) are being treated. I know innocent people have been killed and that is sad, but there is a war for a reason I guess. Not sure I agree with what is going on because the facts get so distorted, so I'm not sure if we are at war for the right reasons or not. People only see that we are at war and say it's for oil. They don't really know that. Only our gov. knows the real reason. And the gov. is full of crooks and liers so we may never know!

As an American I am extremely proud of my country. Alot of what people hear around the world is no more accurate than some of what our Media says. Most Americans will be the first to help anyone, send aid to other countries, work disaster relief, etc.. etc..
But like most Americans if you hit me I am going to hit you back. And I really don't care what the world thinks about that. I'd much rather be your friend, but if you come looking for a fight don't expect me to run away from it. I will meet you halfway. It may sound cocky but it really is your choice. We do not want to take over the world as many preach. Name one country that we have ever fought in that we stayed in and kept forever. The only land we have ever kept was enough to bury our dead soldiers! And we have paid to rebuild every country that we've fought.

Well, the majority of people, i hope, realize that government and its people are not the same thing. Of course we have issues with people of other nations, when a group of (insert countrymen here) are loud, obnoxious and unruly run through your town as tourists. We see alot of negativity on the news, but it is my hope that the rational majority sees americans as decent people, because most of us are. I never had any issues with people when i travelled, i like speaking with people from other countries.

It's like the news media everywhere. They only focus on the extremes and sensational. I believe that the average citizens of the world see that for what it is and believe much like you do. The best solution is to turn off the retarded media and make better use of your time.

We give almost every country in the world our money. Our foreign aid is in the billions.
You would think the world would love us for that. But no, it just makes them jealous.
Most people of the world want to move here, and that also makes their govts jealous.
