Say, your food is mediocre, but the service is friendly, warm and fun? Say, your food is outstanding, but the service is slow, intrusive and otherwise not pleasent. In other words, if you had to choose one, great service with mediocre food, or mediocre service and great food, where would you be more inclinded to spend your time, and thus MONEY?

Since I am going out to eat, I'm looking for a good meal that I will enjoy - the company and the food. I am willing to accept slower service for the quality of the food. I'm going out to eat because of the food, not necessarily the service.

Gotta be the food!

Great sandwich consumed in a subway tunnel in freezing weather is still a wonderful culinary experience.

Nice atmosphere but indigestion = ugh.

There is no excuse for poor service. PERIOD. Poor food is also unacceptable. Bad food + Bad service= Money spent elsewhere!

I'd prefer the good food... nothing worse than to spend your hard-earned money on something that's bland or not worth your time to consume.
