There are home inspectors. Call any Realtor and they will tell you of one. The best is a general contractor inspector. The home inspectors just look at the appliances and such, but a contractor looks at the structure and other things that the home inspector does not look at. The reg. home inspector will check the appliances, but if you want like a swimming pool checked, you have to get a swimming pool inspector, because they have equipment to find out if the pool is leaking or loosing water. I think the best idea is to call a Realtor, maybe one that is a top Realtor in your area. The newspaper usually tells you that, or just call the top agency and ask for the top agent. This means that they have done a lot of business, and know the better inspectors. You might could buy a warranty for one year too, that would cover the appliances. Realtors would be glad to help you, because they are thinking about referrals and business from you one day.
