I didn't hear about the story, however we live in our free society. He has every right to burn a flag (given he owns it of course!) as a protest. I don't think it is an effective form of protest but I would not want to live in a society where that right was taken away.

now if an american flag was burnt this question put to an american they would answer a lot differently wouldnt they
I think action should be taken over this burning of the flag

I don't know Australian law, but he should be jailed. Here in US it's called "free speech." Disgusting!
