Our gym teacher says that he knew somebody who ran up to collect his javelin and tripped just before he got there impaling his kneck with the spike, Have you heard a similar story from your gym teacher?

when i was a school were all playing football whilst the girls were doing athletics....bit of a comotion and it turned out that a fat girl had got speared in the thigh with a javelin! She took it well though....sturdy old girl.

One of my Gym teacher told me about a girl that went to a open day at a grammar school and saw some idiot throw a javelin and impale someone. Not sure it was true or he was just trying to scare people. He said it was because the boy was unattended and stupid. it was a bit of a lecture before we actually got to throw the javelin so i don't know if it was fact or fiction.

Yes! Exactly that. He said when he was at school he'd seen a boy run to pick up his javelin, and fell. The javelin went straight through his throat.
I think they must be taught this story in sports teacher school.

Lol... yes my athletics teacher went to school with a girl who - sing along now - ran to collect her javelin and tripped and it went into her neck. Do you think learning that story is part of sports teachers finishing school?

I was there. It was just a flesh wound. Actually it was in the leg and just a big scratch. She screamed like a pig though.
Nasty, very nasty. It was the day they cancelled '100 yard Javelin catching'.
