i once heard that once we have smelt a scent [be it fragrant or pungent] we never forget it, and even if we only smell it half a decade later, we can still recall the moment when we have first smelt it. izit true? is our brain really that powerful?

Actually this is true. Recalling when we first smelt it is not quite so good though. If it is an odor that makes a strong impression on your mind then you probably will recall the first time. Other than that it is difficult to know just when you first caught the scent of something. After all you were exposed to odors as soon as you were born and probably sooner. Offensive odor does stick in the mind. Yes our brains are that good.

New leather, old leather, paraffin, carborundum, donkey sweat, mint tea, rancid meat, peppers, cumin. What do these smells have in common?

oh yeah our brains are that powerful we only use a fraction of it about 20% i think, so if you used the full power of your brain then who knows what you could do, esp, telepathy etc
