just say the alien are proven real what are the chances of them being normal human beings or maybe just a slight difference in bone structure, and the fact they live in a world just like earth?

Very rare.

I would think the processes that occurred on earth are very unlikely to occur a second time, exactly, in the universe.

I think if we were discover aliens they would be very different from us. We probably wouldn't even recognize them as thier intelligent life. We'd probably classify them as an animal or something, even though they may be the humans on thier planet. Humans are very arrogant and would probably deny the existence of something equal or smarter than us.

You must try to avoid being anthropomorphic, of seeing alien life in terms of how similar it is to us. Suppose they were elephants or dolphins that develop the brainpower and the tools on another planet> That wouldn't be too bad would it? They may not even be carbon-based life-forms, they might be silicon-based instead, I think we have to accept them as they are.

Of course the one thing that would prevent us from having any meaningful encounters with them would be if they were made of anti-matter, Shake hands or exchange gifts and Bang! Both ambassadors disappear in a puff of smoke and ash!

Nah.. I don't think so. Each planet is unique and the chances of them being like humans is rare.

you cannot make estimates of chance when you dont know what you are trying to estimate. I mean , there's no point.
