once you ought to ask, then its likely no longer for you. Assuming you're literally not a polymath, there are very restricted job opportunities. once you're in the right 0.5% of the job pool you'll actually be able to land a job. yet provided that this job pool is created from fairly surprising human beings, in case you do not have the interior pastime for it (in which case the earnings would not be an problem) then i might want to respectfully advise you stay away from Astronomy or Astrophysics and stick with Physics. Its no longer basically a question of 1st 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (or maybe 10th 3 hundred and sixty 5 days) earnings. Its also a question of chance fee. You pay for the 8 - 10 years you're in college. With that huge debt your first 3 hundred and sixty 5 days (and 2d and third) earnings will be worse than in case you bypass to artwork in a McJob. ok, I exaggerate slightly. yet getting a PhD is a lengthy extreme priced highway the position the inducement isn't $$. ask AngelaS about what i have written - i'm no longer in this element of technology, yet recruiters have a tendency to make certain their field through rose colored glasses.
