I can't belive I know the answer to this, but because Gargamel (sp? the bad guy) made her to infiltrate the smurfs, but they converted her by being so nice. So technically speaking she isn't even really a smurf.

There was originally no girls among the smurfs. The smurfette has been created by gargamel and the other one (with the red hair) was created too by one of the smurfs if I remember correctly...

I think all Smurfs are simply asexual so technically speaking Smurfette could just be the only gay one wearing a dress

through fact she's no longer a organic smurf. She became into created with the help of Gargamel to distract, seduce and create jealously and hatred between the Smurfs. although if, she became into too gruesome and had poor social skills and each and all the Smurfs hated her previously each and every thing. Then Papa Smurf took pitty on her and gave her a makeover. After that she became good, yet her new good nature and acceptance made each and all the Smurfs fall in love together with her and that they began to combat over her interest, and consequently she executed Gargamel's challenge by accident. yet interior the tip she saved the Smurfs from Gargamel and became referred to as certainly one of them.
