A turnover in basketball is when the offensive team loses the ball possession to the defending team, either on an unforced or forced error committed by the offensive team. A dunk is when the offensive player stuffs the ball in the rim, thereby touching the rim in the process.

Turnover is when the team that has the ball loses possesion to the other team, either by committing an offensive foul, losing the ball out of bounds, or the defensive team is able to steal the ball. Turnovers can be forced or unforced.
A dunk, or slam dunk, a term coined by the late great Lakers basketball announcer Chick Hearn, happens when an offensive player jumps in the air and powers the ball down into the hoop either with one hand or both hands. It's one of the highest percentage shots in basketball. Also called the stuff, jam, throw down, flush, and, if the player dunks on a defender, posterizing. Also, techincally, a dunk is offensive goal interference since the ball is above the rim or sometimes on the rim when the player jams it down, but it's an exception to the offensive inteference rule. Dunks were banned for a while in the NCAA from 1967-1976, some say to counter the dominance of then college phenom Kareem Abdul Jabbar, but that wasn't the case, it was really done to stop damage to equipment, such as bent rims and broken backboards, caused by players hanging on the rims after dunking.

A turnover is when the ball is given to the other team after a score or an out of bounds balls. A dunk is when a person either throws the ball into the basket without touching the rim or jumps up and drops the ball into the hoop.

A turnover is when you give the ball away either by error or foul to the other team. Dunking is when you slam the ball into the rim.

CMAN does not know what the hell he is talking about.
if the other team gets the ball from your team, its a turnover.....
EXAMPLE> you travel, you walk, you FOUL and on offense, you through it out of bounds. it can happen at any time.
DUNK, if you dont know what a dunk is, you got problems.
actually, you got problems if you dont know what either is. later
