how can i suggest to my dad that i think he needs to start dating? he's 54, and he and my mom separated after 25 years.

Your father will decide when it is time for him to start dating again. Love takes time to get over and there's no point in him dating until he is completely over his wife... believe me , you need a clean fresh heart before you start dating again or it's just aksing for disaster.. i know you mean well but let him have this time to get to know himself as as single individual, only when he;s ready is the right time. cheers!

DON'T DO IT ! U WILL HURT UR MAM'S FEELING because NO MATTER WHAT U THINK, THEY STILL LOVE EACH OTHER. 25 YEARS U DON'T WASH IT OUT THAT EASY.
Try to get them back together !
