I got a burner as a gift a really long time ago, and I installed the software on my computer. Since then, I had my computer reprogrammed in which I lost the installation. I no longer have the software (I still have the burner) and I really need to burn lots of music. What do I need to do in order to successfully hook up the burner and copy music from my Windows Media Player? By the way, the software was "NeroExpress", I'm not sure what version.

If you know what kind of burner you have, you can search the internet for downloadable drivers and burner software. It depends on the type of burner you have for what drivers you'll need. Perhaps if you gave more specific information, we could help more.

You can download the latest version of Nero 7 and all should work fine if you were using an version and it suppoorted your burner.

If you still have the CD's that came with the burner, you should find Nero Express on it.

Otherwise... you may have to sift through http://www.download.com to find a cd burning program

The native windows XP burning facility isn't that great. However if you want to use it.. follow this step by step guide on how to do it (its got graphics so its better to follow this link than rather type the whole process out!)
