In the words of the great Karl Marx himself, "Religion is an opiate for the masses". I couldn't agree more with that, and nor could I have said it better.
We're better off without religion, that's for sure. I am aware of all the personal benefits to be derived from being spiritual, such as a longer life, better health etc. - as have been proven by medical journals time and again. However, when SPIRITUAL people cross over into RELIGIOUS nut territory, that's when religion does more harm than good.
Look at the world today, ALL the wars we are fighting have religious roots to them - and that fact speaks for itself!

Fist people were not ready intellectually for such a complex set of syllogisms as any of the theological works and had a very primitive system of conduct based predominantly on basic instincts. I understand the excitement and discontent felt in your question as the idea of religion itself was discredited by the ages of our history. But it will always exist. The forms may not be usual - atheism, consumerism, technocracy. Nevertheless religion has always been the indicator defining the human civilization stage of development.

You can not attach Harm and Good for humanity with Religion. There is no any religion on this earth which guide any type of voilance, harm to social life and any bad things to do.
The main problem is in the follower of Religion, which doesnot follow the complete principle of any religion which cause danger things for humanity.
Cheers

U R right. Religion came only bcoz of man's variation in worship. Religion alone won't do any harm.Only the people who boast of their religion cause harm. But for humanity one can be without religion or accept all religions.

I dont think so. Sure there has been a lot of fundamentalists who went overboard preaching and misinterpreting the fundas, but most relegions give a great set of moral codes to live by.
Perhaps some doctrines are preached too much. Perhaps some are acted on too little. But even for unbelievers, relegion has, in some way or the other, set standards of conduct and I am sure that it is responsible, in a large part, for whatever moral fibre is worn by the common man these days.
So, all things considered, I'd give relegions a positive thumb up.

According to the Bible, (of which I'm not an advocate) religion is of Satan used to divide God's people. And it sure does work!
I find religion harmful because it is, in general, as exclusive as a country club. They do more to "keep people unwelcome and out" than they do to "embrace everyone" who comes to the door of the house of worship that is involved

i'm having a perplexing time determining what sturdy it has carried out in any respect. The claims that non secular human beings make about how absolutely everyone might want to change into wicked sociopaths without faith are absurdly bogus. without faith, there might want to be a lot less tolerance for political authority, that may be a sturdy aspect.

Blame the driver, not the car.
Just like a car, there are dos and donts in a religion. Those are guidelines to be followed. Once abused, you either wreck the car or kill yourself. Use it properly, it can bring you from point A to point B without any problems.
Religion is your freedom of choice. Pick one which you can fulfill.

You can argue for that. But the mere question being asked daily in this forum means, something is amiss. But somebody has pushed panic button more recently while the scenario does not require so.
