There is nothing we can do to prevent "global warming", it is natural. Yes, it is "poppycock".

For the most part I say yeah, poppycock it is. Twenty years ago we were told we would start another ice age but we didn't. In fact were now supposedly heating up. That holds certain irony to me. Besides even if there is global warming, Its very likely that it's mostly natural, Earth has heated up and cooled down repeatedly through out it's history. Nevertheless that doesn't mean we should pollute the atmosphere, there is in fact a hole in the ozone layer, and If there is global warming were contributing to it not causing it. And remember all the stuff Al Gore said is the opinion of some scientist. As I recall from what some scientist used to say, we should be in hover cars right now with a robot butler and meals in a pill. Were not, so does that tell you anything? One lesson I've learned, Were almost always wrong.

Global warming trend has done much to the ice caps and glaciers of the world, for example the glacier of Mt. Kilimajaro is well documented. However the main problem about the warming is the cause. We don't know if this is a cyclical event or caused directly by pollution. If it is a cyclical event, there is little to do to prevent it. Many ancient cultures believed in recurrent weather patterns in both the New World as well as in Asia. However since we don't have meteorological records for the globe dating back over the last 500 years to study and build a model from, we can't be sure. Some people analyse from tree rings, but these ancient trees represent a particular biome are are not world wide. Your premise that global warming is associated with cities is not so with glacier melts. Some, include Al Gore want to sensationalize this warming by making it a political stance, and once elected will forget about it. Pollution could indeed be a factor by the creating of 'greenhouse' gases, and we know that the temperature on the planet Venus are very high as the heat is trapped with the 'greenhouse' gas atmosphere. Some of this is related to the vast destruction of rain forests, industry and some Australian scientists have stated methane in the atmosphere is caused by flatulence (intestinal gases) of cows. Contributing to this problem is the volcanic ash from the various eruptions. Scientists (especially University professors) are easily led to rash conclusions by their need to publish or at least get some attention and jump to hasty theories. Read the headlines daily for another update which is usually prefaced by the word MAY....The case MAY be....! Another complication is the bloodthirsty press that twists and distorts things to make them seem worse than they are...they have to make "Prime Time" or the deadlines and anything will work as long as it doesn't slander or libel (but the shadowy areas of suggestion get around that). I would be skeptical of even an international committee as every person there would be self-serving...I have seen this happen with the International Control Commission made up of Canada, India and Poland....everyone was cheering for his own nation. So in short, is it true, yes, there is a demonstrable increase in temperature but why we don't know.

Yeah, it's pathetic how some are quick to buy into the whole "global warming" scare tactic.
Look, anyone can do a little research to see that the hottest days ever recorded in the U.S. was back in the 1930s I believe (or maybe late 1920s) where the thermometer registered a gut-busting 135+ degrees Fahrenheit. The hottest on Earth was that same year in some "non-industrialized" country registering at 137°F. The hottest weeks ever recorded were also near this time period. History has also shown that heat waves like this generally reoccur in cycles, usually around every 100-150 years, long before humans started interferring with the ozone.
Why then, are we so paranoid? Scientists might be able to point to things going on around them now, but I guarantee you another scientist can show another point in history where the same occurred at even higher levels.

The scientists at the American academy of science have stated that global warming is no longer a theory but is actually scientific fact. And these are some of the most intelligent people in the world. And I would like to know why the United states is the only country in the civilized world that hasn't accepted global warming as a reality, are we that stupid?

Hey pal, show me no poppycock & I'll be surprized!!
Hey Greg B!!
Global Warming is like the weather...everyone TALKS about it but can not do a single solitary thing about it other than move to live in an enviroment where the weather is most pleasing. That's why I lived in Hawa!! for 23 years & five years here in Australia where it is supposed to be the best climate in Australia. I already have relinquished use of fossile fueled vehicles when I became a bike messenger/courier in 1998! I am super-conscientious about where I stash my cigarette filters & pay dearly for electricity & hot water! I could not give 2 shakes of a damn about the 'poppycock' of your warming globe! The damage has been started in the late 1800s & it's kinda too late to worry about it now! Look at LA & other major smogged/poluted cities around the globe. Catch a clue! It's too severely incorporated into the mindset of society to blatently waste as much as we can as fast as we can! Sorry, but unless you move to a more serine & tranquil location, your grandchildren will be suffering the legacy of your grandfathers.
k-den, Please have a nice day anyway! And thanks for the message!

Oh, what? You want more natural disasters like tsunamis and hurricanes? Hey! Say goodbye to Antarctica! We'll just have six continents instead! Come on! Global warming should be an established fact. And, if it's true that governments are spending billions on fighting global warming, then I shall retract my statement of them being TOTAL jack-offs.

A couple questions you need to ask yourself:
1. How old is the earth?
2. How long has "modern man" been tracking the temperature?
As someone posted above, the earth goes through heating and cooling cycles. Of course weather patterns are not the same all over the world. Another person pointed out melting glaciers, but the glaciers in Alaska are not retreating.
I do believe human interaction has affected global weather patterns, but I do not believe we are the sole or primary influence.

There are vewry independant scientists (i.e. scientists who don't work for industry or chimpies administration) that currently dispute global warming. Your facts are wrong, the most obvious signs of global warming are in the poles as people have pointed out.
What do you think it's going to cost industry and governments when low lying urban areas are reclaimed by the rising sea..hmmm...

Global warming? Just how much has the temp climbed in 100 years? Less that one degree.
Let us say it is. Are we all going to die if the temp goes up 5 degrees? No
We will have more rain the growing of food will be better and can be farther north.
Is man cause of it. No
This is more a tool and a stick many use to control the people.

Global warming is real as well as global cooling. Remember the ice ages? The real question is how much do we humans contribute to these climate changes, and could we do anything to stop global warming or global cooling. No one really knows. However, there is one certainty. When global climate changes occur there will be serious economic and political fallout.
