A friend of mine, a few years ago, started being a Chimney Sweep, her own company, and did really well. She donned a high black hat, went out and bought the few brushes and went to work. She ran an ad in the paper, climbed, swept and loved it. Not afraid of heights? Cool. She did excellent. People loved seeing her arrive in her top hat and gloves. She went on to getting with a Swedish company who supplied her wood stoves that were attractive and very functional for home and started with the installation of those and stainless steel chimney liners. The liners, she recommended to her sweep customers for fire safety and they went really big. As her company grew, so did her employees, she had quite a fleet. As time went on, she could stop climbing and just manage the business from her new office. She had NO competition...something you should be aware of before you undertake this career. Hope you have as much fun as she did!
