backgrounds, etc. i get these codes but i have no idea how to put then to use.

You can go to a code generator site, put in all the customizations you want and voila, custom layout. (http://www.strikefile.com/myspace/reborn_3_5.htm )
Or google myspace layouts. There are TONS of pre-made ones.
Then you just paste the code into the About Me section when you edit your profile.

I guess it would depend on what kind of codes you have... Im not sure so I cant tell you... you can go to sites like
www.myspace.com/contacttables
www.mygen.co.uk and they have layouts, contact boxes, generators, etc
