When people are nice to a gay man, they either think you fancy them,or think they can start fancying you.Why do people lie so much to deny this on their behalf?

I don't quite know wht you're getting at, but I've had gay, lesbien and Bi friends, and have dabbled in bisexuality myself. Any it's not anymore "pervy" than any straight person.

Maybe because most people were not nice to gay people so it was easily assumed that if they weren't hating you or indifferent to you then they were interested. This whole treat gay people like everyone else is relatively new. Equality is not quite here yet, but at least people are starting to treat gay people with the same dignity and respect they do others. Now, if you look back, it wasn't always like this. People used to treat gay people as less than human. The only ones that were nice (for the most part) were other gay people, or people who were interested. This mindset is hard to break. So if someone treats a gay person nice, then they think the person likes them. Let me put this in str8 terms. Say you've been shot down by every girl you've talked to. Then one day, some girl is actually nice to you and talks to you for more than three seconds. She eats lunch with you at work, she says hello when passing down the hallway. Would you assume she is interested? Most likely. But what if she is just a nice person? Does this example help?

Why do so many of you straight men think that every gay man out there is into you? Maybe its you that's pervy, having a conversation with someone doesn't me they want to F**k you.

This all looks like a bit of wishful thinking to me. If you're THAT worried about them fancying you, don't talk to them, then the situation won't arise, will it? Yet you obviously talk to them and then think they're pervy. Make your mind up sunshine - I didn't just join this site to hear this sort of tripe.

they are not all pervy. i should know. stop being stereotypical.

i dont fancy everyone who's nice to me, i only fancy one person at the current moment and she is the only person i have ever fancied in my life.

i know that lesbian is not the same as homosexual but it is still similar and i believe gays have this similar problem

oh oh , i guess we are not discussing gay people here but people having sex on their mind. so the same can be absolutely true about straight people - esp girls in mini-skirts and young men of 12 (?)to 35 (?). but some people have other interests in life as well - say literature or music, so it is not about being gay/straight but about the fact of how much your brain has been developed and whether there are things which really hook you apart from sex

The same can be said of women trying to have just friendship with men. Guys are simply more optimistic. That's why you make your status clear upfront. That's your job. this does not make gay men "pervy". And it's awful of you to generalize this sub-group.

gay people aren't pervy just because if you're nice to them ,they think you fancy them.It can be the same thing said about heterosexual males who are nice to a girl and she thinks that he fancies her.But in reality he's not into her that way.But then the same thing can go for heterosexual females.I like women more than men(I'm bi) and just because someone is nice to me, I don't think they fancy me or anything like that.

Al Goldstein, Caligula, Hugh Heifner, all perverts by your standards yet all straight.

gays cannot assume that a man might be gay like a straight man assumes a woman is straight.

onyl 1/10 men are gay and that figure is even less for women
