Currently, I am working towards a degree, albiet, my basics. Would like to here from an experienced person in the field, what all their job entails, what the pay is like, what kinds of skills are involved, and what personality type is needed in the field.

I would say it's unlikely you'll get any reliable information of that sort on here. I would recommend asking someone at your school for that type of information, perhaps a professor who's got practical experience. If they can't help you out themselves, they could presumably at least get you in contact with someone who can.
