Psychologists say that people look up and to the left when they are fabricating what they're saying. Generally people look down when they are recalling a true past event, but up and to the left if they're lying.
That's why people say Meryll Streep is such a great actress because she even got those things down right in her acting, and looked in the proper direction for whether she was recalling a past event or lying.
Sometimes acting like you KNOW the truth will fake out the person into admitting it.
