No, it's on the internet, I expect that. I don't put anything on the internet that I want kept private.

I wouldn't feel violated. I might feel a little spied on. It would depend on how I saw his/her motives. If the person was just curious about me and I hadn't been giving them much to go on, I don't think I'd get too upset if they just took a peek at what groups I belong to. If they read a post of mine from a mental health or sex forum, I would demand to know why they thought it was any of their business. I tend to be pretty open about most things though so I don't think it would bother me much.

I'd find it rather creepy. I don't like the kind of people who spy or keep searching for as much info about you as they can and e-stalk you. They are creepy and I feel that I should be the one deciding what personal information I'm willing to share with them.

It has happened to me that somebody did this and I didn't like it. It was not nice to know that whatever I did online, I was being watched by him. I cut off contact with the person and he kept e-stalking me till I got rid of my website, changed e-mail addresses, changed my username everywhere, stopped going to a particular forum and gave my friends strict instructions to not give out any of my contact information to strangers. What a f***ing freak that guy was!

In the first place, you should remember that anyone can read what you post publicly. If you do not want your personal information known, you should not publish it.

Of course you would feel violated, but you did bring it upon yourself. Remember this is a public forum.

That depends, if it was really personal then surely I would be offended. But basically, I wouldn't be, because if I have posted something in a public board then it is done, so that everyone can see it. So, I wouldn't really feel very offended.

Not really, I don't care what people I chat to know about me as anyway I'd never see them in real. Why should I bother? Chatting to strangers is just for timepass, not for building up a relationship.

Not really since I chose to make those things public. But if they knew personel stuff I had not posted then that's crossing the line.

Naaah - anything i put on the net is going into the public anyway - so it is there for all to see. i should be flattered at the attention - and hopefully some subjects for discussion would become apparent!
