I've been wanting to get some color contact lenses (Blue/Green), but my dad wont let me. Is it that I am too young? I am 13 years old, and some friends wear them, instead of glasses.

Well, actually, the reason is that he thinks contact lenses are for girls. ._.

I got clear contacts when I was in the 7th grade ( about 11- 12 y.o) then I got colored contacts as a freshman in highschool and have kept them and clear since. I only wear my glasses at home or if my contacts are bothering me. I find it a lot easier driving because of all around vision, but you dont have to worry about that now. And I would go clear first, to get used to them. The colored contacts are "blurry", not so you cant see but the color pigments in them have an effect and vision isnt as clear with glasses or clear contacts.

If they weren't the colored ones I bet your
dad would let you get some.I started wearing contacts at 11.But I'm now 21 and when I told
my dad that I bought brown contacts he got mad and asked me why don't I like the blue eyes he and my mother gave me.That's probably why your dad won't let you get the
colored contacts ,because he likes you to look
the way he made you.But if you want to do it anyways wait until you're about 15 and go to the vision center at walmart and tell them what you want. You will need an eye exam first, which
costs $80.00.They will also have to take measurements to get you the right size contacts.
So all together it will cost you about $110.00-
$130.00.So you need to start saving.Good Luck.

Well I think it is alright if you are responsible. Contacts can be dangerous (infections) if they aren't cleaned/taken care of well.

Also, is this more for a fashion statement or would you use them as an alternate for glasses?

If it is for a fashion statement, I understand why your dad would not let you. Color contacts are very expensive for a prescription, boxes of contacts, solution, etc. (especially if they are just used for decorative use).

Also, be careful of non-prescribed contacts--they can damage your eyes since they are not specifically shaped for you.

Take care, be yourself, and realize that you are beautiful with or without color contacts!~

well i feel your dad is just looking out for your eyesight.
its really not good to wear contact lenses unless you are substituting them for prescription glasses. regular fashion lenses have been known to effect your good eyesight if you don't specifically have to wear them.
listen to your dad. he's right. you should want to have good vision for the rest of your years.
