The US citizen is loseing rights left and right some say it is or is becoming a police state - protestor arrested and thrown in concentration camps (pier 57) brutal tortures and concentration camps in Cuba legislation to protect CIA agents who use torture etc

Who started, trained and funded Al Quaeda?
Who knew about the attempts months before but chose not to react?
Who promised to freeze all of Bin Ladens assests 5 years after hasn't even started even though some of these are invested in the US?
Who allowed The Bin Laden family jet with his brother inside to leave on 9/11 after grounding all air traffic?
Who still does international business dealings with Banks of the Saoudi Bin Laden Group(it's officially owned by his brothers but it's his money)?

You are saying, in effect, that the Bush administration was %100 effective in "pulling off 9/11."

Think about that. The administration that thought our troops would walk out of Iraq, "mission accomplished," with no sand in their boots because they'd be walking on rose petals, did something so diabolical, and carried it off so perfectly, that it explains all the hundreds of things in the world, big and small, that are different now, than they were pre 9-11.

That's a big problem with conspiracy theories like this. They reason to explain the effect. You see a picture of authority starting to get nasty; presto, there's The Thing That Explains It All.

So let's go back to the obvious parallel: The Reichstag fire, an arson of Germany's parliamentary building which justified the assumption of Nazi repressive powers.

But the Reichstag's value to any conspiracy was it's symbolism. No one was killed when it burned down, after all.

Obviously, though, 9-11 was intended to produce mass-casualties. Quick, folks, what's the URL of the US Occupation Zone's HQ in Pakistan? How many divisions do we have in Saudi Arabia? How long did it take for our armies to crush not only Iraq, but Iran and Syria also?

It has now been almost five years since 9-11. We were angry enough to have totally militarized as we did after Pearl Harbor... after that, in four years, we had defeated and levelled Germany and Japan, starting from a position of military inferiority.

9-11 was not a "Reichstag provocation," to invoke police powers against a domestic enemy. It was a Pearl Harbor magnitude event, killing thousands of our citizens, and clearly originating off-shore - but where, then, was the bloody follow-through?

Mass-casualties change the dynamic entirely. It was only logical to have intended such casualties, if the "conspiracy" wanted to engineer a rapid, ruthless, total American response. Do you understand the magnitude of what this country could have done after 9-11?

This actually annoys me somewhat. 9-11, the "spectacularly successful" conspiracy, was then utterly, stupidly squandered by that "conspiracy." It led to nothing that would have been worth the risk and cost of such a monstrosity.

I think you've been dipping into conspirist websites a tad too deeply and maybe it's time for a break into reality. But let's set the record straight why don't we:

The US didn't stage 9/11. Ambitious brown-nosers within CIA/FBI and top military ranks had knowlege 9/11 was to happen---but kept quiet on matters until they saw fit to spring the news and net their career advancements. Unfortunately, they sat quiet too long and people died senselessly.

There's no evidence to support into fact that CIA / FBI or Interpol agents use brutal tortures on deadly terrorist suspects or aggressive criminal communist espinoage agents. Frankly, I'm not that much opposed to the idea if the CIA put knocks on the heads of such fanatics.

Lindsey English indeed was a patsy--but one well armed with some damaging information that could bring down some top brass people. You needen't fret over that matter--it's pretty much classified from this point.

International US product counterfeiting is a ever growing crime that costs the US billions, that eventually get passed on to us. Whiz-bang high tech means are being used to control this crime and may well be further protective to the US in sensitive matters involving possible terrorist attacks on the US. I don't really have a problem with that, do you????

The US an emerging Nazi state??? I don't think so. Liberal oppositinists always are blind to efforts being made to protect the US from terrorist attacks. Like it or not, such measures have to be in place if we're to avoid scores of innocent people dying because some mentally derranged extremists hate our country and it's citizens.

I don't totally support Bush's policies and feel the man does need measures of control--clueless as he evidently is, he IS trying to keep us safe--with best intents at heart. What the Germans (and most of the rest of the world) have already learned, the U.S. is in the process of discovering. Nationalism and it's evil twin fascism are new to he U.S.
The breeding ground was perfect and the Bush junta seized upon it in 2001. Transforming the country into a state of fear was easy by demolishing the World Trade Center (or at least not trying to prevent it) and blaming it on the perfect bogeyman Osama bin Laden. Bin Laden was already an admitted terrorist, so there was no disbelief to be expected.

After the attack the Bush junta had a blank check to curtail civil liberties as they fancied. Just read the original patriot act. In Germany the Reichstag burned and the Dutch guy Van der Lubbe was squarely blamed. Days after that Hitler received all the powers he asked for handed on a silver platter. The opposition was weak and reminds one very much on the conditions in 2001.

The Bush junta has identified that war is good business. Although they were not the first who saw that. There have been other republican administrations that came to this realization. A scared public, grotesquely uneducated and left int he dark is the best breeding ground for fascism. The Bush junta has the best chance to convert the U.S. into a new Nazi state. That's an interesting take on the subject. I never thought about it that way. I cannot say yes or no as I do not have enough facts to make a clear decision. It is a possibility, but I cannot conclude that yet for now. If it is true, then it would eventually lead to our downfall in the long run. Maybe some of the biblical conclusions are starting to emerge.

Get a grip on reality fishy. Americans have more rights now than ever in their history. Period. Anyone who thinks different has never read American history. 50 years ago they tapped phones anytime they wanted. Check Hoovers FBI. No Miranda rights required. Internment camps for Japanese Americans in WWII. Blacks and Women couldn't vote.
Americans can still travel where they want, say what they want about the government, buy what they want, Practice any religion they want, or not believe in a God if they want.
