I am a lesbian so I can see why people strive for equality because I am one for equality. What i ponder is this. We have gay pride all over the world. We have a flag. We have all this stuff that symbolizes us as gay people. If we want equality why isnt there a straight pride or a flag for straight people. There is equality and then there is throwing it in their faces. There has to be a balance. If we want to be treated equal in the eyes of everyone then we have to treat everyone else just as equal. I know this is odd coming from a gay person. But I think that sometimes we go too far. In some parts we have a reputation as people who throw in others faces and ram it down their throats on what it is we want. I think they hear us loud and clear. If we push for what we want in a possitive productive way, in the end we will win. But to have a day.. I think is going too far.

There is no nationally or internationally recognized "Gay Day". Each gay pride parade or celebration is organized separately. Traditionally, these are scheduled in late June or early July to commemorate the Stonewall Rebellion, aka Stonewall riots. It might be nice to have a specific day recognized everywhere but not every gay person agrees that gay pride events are a positive thing and certainly many people would oppose any official national recognition of a day for gays. Maybe you can get a movement started to settle on a day.

There is a gay pride parade....but not a heterosexual pride parade. Who cares, mother's day is for mother's, father's day is for father's...what about the woman or man who didn't have any kids, what's their day? It's just another way to decide on what's fair...nothing is fair. I don't see a united Caucasian college fund or united Mexican college fund...we need to stop trying to be fair and noticed and just be!

They have a BIG parade every year in NYC.
I think they have a day, and they took claim to the
rainbow as a symbol. You know, like the Irish have
the clover.
