at eight months you would not miscarry because the baby would be viable. my sister works in the neonatal intensive care unit and they have saved babies as premature as 22 weeks old (of course there is a very very high risk of lifelong problems)
you don't want to do anything that could make your baby come too soon but you probably wouldn't lose a baby that far along unless there was something wrong with the baby to start.
you want to get to at least 36/37 weeks for a totally healthy baby!
when i was 8 months i think i lifted that much weight once or twice and was fine... you just have to be careful and listen to your body.

It means you are me and have a 15 month old son. =) At this point in your pregnancy, you would not be at risk for a miscarriage, if anything perhaps premature labor. But your body has to be incredibly stressed to do that. And then, some women go into pre-mature labor for no known reason. You're almost to your 37 weeks, which is full-term, so I wouldn't worry at all.
Next time, get someone else to lift it!

I tore the ligaments that hold the uterus on both sides when I was 4 months along. It was very painful and the pain just continued to get worse until I delivered 5 months later. Only then could they finally heal. Yes, it was a miserable pregnancy, but it was full term. However, I would not advise lifting heavy objects while pregnant. The ligaments tearing was minor compared to what could happen. If your uterus falls because of detached/torn ligament, I'd say that you will be seeing your baby pretty soon and that might be a very detrimental thing to the baby's health. (Just my opinion.)

Your chances of miscarriage are slim since if
you did force yourself into labor the baby is developed enough at this point it would be ok.
But when I was pregnant I was hard headed
and always picked up on heavy stuff. But I never
had any problem.I carried all the way to 9 mos.
Now I'm not saying it's alright to be lifting on heavy stuff.I'm just saying don't get yourself
too worked up if you lifted something heavy.Just
try not to do it again.

My son was 15 months old when I was 8 months pregnant with his little brother, and I lifted him (and carried him around) all the time. He was probably about 28 or 29 pounds at the time. I didn't have any problems.

It could but you will probably be fine. Lifting yourself off the couch or out of bed is like lifting 30 or more pounds. dont worry about it but be careful in the future. It would not lead to a miscarriage because you are almost full term.

You can always miscarry. Don't be decieved.
Pregnant women who have toddlers can testify that carrying something that weighs 30 lbs will not hurt you if you lift correctly.

Your doctor told you not to do it, don't do it. Why do pregnant women have to move all the furniture around at the end of their prenancy? You would think we would be over this nesting thing. Get your man or someone else to lift the heavy stuff.

Nothing is impossible, but most miscarrages happen early in your pregnancy! If your not in any pain and have not seen any blood then don't stress yourself out, but still inform your doctor!
