The battery is Solly dependent on ambient temperature, i live in a climate where six months is tops; then the battery's knackered.
heat kills batteries. but in a normal environment it should last the life of the computer

Our company only installs toshiba brand laptop on our medical equipment. It is generally easier to work on, and toshiba has local service centers. There's nothing like sending your system out for several weeks (like Compaq) to realize the standard warranty is worthless. Go to Toshiba.com; laptops start at $548.00 with wireless, ethernet connections, cd burner, etc. All the peripherals you normally need are included. Good luck!

attempt to discover a 4 hundred to 900 Mhz Buss velocity equipment. As you circulate over 1000 Mhz the charges circulate up. Mac can use OS Tiger on platforms as much as 967 Mhz and after which you're into the final era until now Mac replace to the intel Duo chips. costs could be as much as $4 hundred.00 Loks ot luck finding what you pick

I have a Mac, It always works, but most lappy's are the same now days. They've had 30 odd years to perfect them......

Spec's: at least 1 gig RAM, at least 100 Gig HDD.

...You can't go wrong really...Check the keyboard feel however,
using it every day makes a difference if its sloppy and without some snap....:)

Happy shopping.

Dell is the best. They have replaced the faulty batteries. Anyway all are same. Take a blind pick. Choose with your feelings.

Sony or Toshiba. I'm not shunning the other ones, though.

Get an apple... because now it runs OS X and windows... this is good because you will have a choice in operating systems and good harware to like a built in webcam, also has intel components.
